Community Outreach and Engagement Supervisor

SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Executive Director of MCG Youth, this position is responsible for developing and coordinating community outreach and engagement core programming and maintaining partnerships in support of MCG Youth strategic initiatives.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not strictly limited to, the following:

Network Development:

  • Identifies nonprofit, educational, and community-based organizations with a shared mission of educating and empowering youth.

  • Initiates and responds to exploratory conversations for the purpose of determining opportunities for collaboration.

  • Ensures alignment with the mission of MCG Youth.

  • Establishes relationships with regional school districts and community partners and ensures active collaboration.

 

Existing Collaborations:

  • Maintains and strengthens relationships with the existing network of organizations serving youth.

  • Maintains and actively participates in key regional partnerships with Remake Learning, APOST, AIU3, and others related to community outreach and engagement.

 

Program Enhancements:

  • Proposes workshops, guest speakers, offsite experiences and other enrichment activities based on conversations with network partners.

  • Works with the Executive Director to determine how to introduce new initiatives alongside existing programming.

  • Works with the Database Administrator to determine a strategy for collecting and reporting meaningful data from engagements.  Presents recommendation(s) to the Executive Director for final approval.

 

Program Coordination (Guild On The Go, Visiting Arts and Exhibitions, and Art After Dark):

  • Serves as the primary contact and ensures daily operations for all community outreach and engagement programming.

  • Works with the Director of Communications on developing electronic and printed marketing materials.

  • Develop scheduling for program staff and presents to the Executive Director for final approval.

  • Works with the Executive Director, the Internal Program Supervisor and the Administrative Assistant on managing the organizational calendar.

  • Develops a working program calendar for the Manchester Craftsmen’s Guild Invitational, Guild On The Go, Visiting Arts and Exhibitions, and Art After Dark which is to be approved by the Executive Director.

Program Administration Responsibilities:

  • Supervises and appraises the performance of the Community Outreach and Engagement Teaching Artist(s).

  • Under the direction of the Executive Director, ensures that the strategic plan is fully implemented.

  • Meets regularly with the Community Outreach and Engagement Teaching Artist(s) and ensures the delivery of programming which is in keeping with the organization’s stated goals and objectives, and contractual obligations.

  • Works with the Executive Director and Database Administrator to develop tools to evaluate program effectiveness based on measurement criteria established by funders and other partners. Presents recommendations to Executive Director for final approval.

  • Reviews and approves purchase requisitions for the Executive Director’s final approval.

  • Reviews and approves employee timesheets.

 

  • Exhibits understanding and internalization of company values: influence, respect, listen, shape and embrace.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position has direct supervisory responsibility for the Community Outreach and Engagement Teaching Artist(s).

 

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor of Arts degree with a concentration in Visual Arts, Education or a related field.

  • 3 years experience working with young people in an arts, social service, or public-school system environment.

  • Experience in program development, promotion and evaluation, building professional networks and collaboration.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with a diverse population.

  • MS Office skills.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a worker to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The worker must possess the mobility to work in a standard office setting and use standard office equipment. While performing the duties of this job, the worker is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, talk and hear. The worker is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, and stoop or kneel. The worker is required to use hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, telephone, and other office equipment. The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform activities such as viewing a computer screen, reading, and preparing and analyzing documents.  Light to moderate lifting may be required. Regular, predictable attendance is required.

Studio work may require additional physical capacity to perform activities which would include movements such as lifting and carrying, bending and twisting, and crouching and stooping. The worker must be able to lift 10-20 pounds repeatedly and up to 50 pounds periodically.
