From Violence to Vision: Art Images to End Brutality

June 19th, 2008

If you plan to visit the Three Rivers Arts Festival on Friday night, then you might want to stop by the Manchester Craftsmen’s Guild’s satellite Downtown gallery, MCG@800 Penn Avenue. From 5:30 to 8 p.m., MCG will sponsor a free, public benefit reception for “From Violence to Vision,” a project and exhibit of works by members of MCG Youth’s first group of Arts Leadership and Public Service interns.

The exhibit includes works across media that address violence. The reception will offer an opportunity to meet students featured in the show and kick-off a silent auction, which will run through the end of the exhibition. Advocacy pins also will be available for purchase and food and refreshments will be served. A portion of all proceeds made during the exhibit will go to the Center for Victims of Violence and Crime.

The show will continue through July 6. The gallery is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and is at 800 Penn Ave., Downtown.
