MCG Jazz Celebrates Father’s Day at Children’s Museum
May 31st, 2007(PITTSBURGH) – MCG Jazz, in partnership with the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh, will celebrate Father’s Day with brunch and a special jazz concert featuring notable father-son combos. On Sunday, June 17, 2007, the Father’s Day Jazz event begins with a noon brunch at the Children’s Museum, followed by a live jazz concert at 3:00 p.m. in the New Hazlett Theater.
Marty Ashby, Executive Producer of MCG Jazz, perceives the partnership between Manchester Craftsmen’s Guild and the Children’s Museum as “an ideal collaboration between community-based organizations seeking to create cultural opportunities for children and families. Father’s Day Jazz is an excellent way to provide a unique and memorable introductory jazz music experience.”
The Father’s Day Jazz performance duos will include saxophonists Don Aliquo Sr. and son Don Aliquo Jr., trombonist Jay Ashby and son drummer/percussionist Lucas Ashby, bassist Bob Insko and sons drummer Cole Insko and trumpeter Nathan Insko, and pianist James Johnson Jr. and son drummer James Johnson III. All of these musicians welcome the opportunity to perform and share their love of jazz on Father’s Day.
