Nancy Wilson Wins GRAMMY® Award for CD Recorded in Pittsburgh, TURNED TO BLUE

(PITTSBURGH) - MCG Jazz congratulates Nancy Wilson on her GRAMMY® Award for Best Jazz Vocal Album. Turned To Blue was recorded and produced by MCG Jazz in Pittsburgh, PA.

The 49th Annual GRAMMY® Awards aired live on February 11, 2007, at 8:00pm EST on CBS. Marty Ashby, Executive Producer for MCG Jazz, is available for comment. Turned To Blue and photos of Nancy Wilson are also available through MCG Jazz.

The other nominees in the 2007 Best Jazz Vocal Album category are Footprints by Karrin Allyson, Easy To Love by Roberta Gambarini, Live at Jazz Standard with Fred Hersch by Nancy King and From This Moment On by Diana Krall. Miss Wilson won her first GRAMMY® Award in 1964 for Best Rhythm & Blues Recording for How Glad I Am. Her second GRAMMY® Award came just two years ago, in 2005, for Best Jazz Vocal Album for R.S.V.P. (Rare Songs, Very Personal), Turned To Blue has ranked in the top 25 on the Billboard Traditional Jazz Chart for 8 weeks.

MCG Jazz has received an unprecedented amount of critical acclaim. Turned To Blue’s win marks the fourth album produced by MCG Jazz to receive a GRAMMY® Award. Additionally, seven MCG Jazz recordings have received GRAMMY® nominations including “Stardust” from Dizzy’s Business by The Dizzy Gillespie™ All-Star Big Band that was nominated for Best Arrangement Accompanying A Vocalist – Slide Hampton, arranger. MCG Jazz won its first GRAMMY® Award in 1996 for Best Large Ensemble Performance for the Count Basie Orchestra with the New York Voices Live at Manchester Craftsmen’s Guild album. The second win came in September 2003 when Brazilian Dreams featuring Paquito D’Rivera and New York Voices won the Latin GRAMMY® Award for Best Latin Jazz Album. And, in 2005, R.S.V.P. (Rare Songs, Very Personal) by Nancy Wilson won Best Jazz Vocal Album.
