(PITTSBURGH): On Monday, April 24, 2006 at 11:00 a.m., Manchester Craftsmen’s Guild will conduct the second of three Third Grade Jazz Concerts that day for elementary schoolchildren. This three-day program (April 24-26 at 9:30 a.m., 11:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. each day) will serve approximately 2,500 students overall. To begin the 11:00 a.m. concert on April 24, Mayor Bob O’Connor will present a proclamation to Pittsburgh jazz great Joe Negri in honor of his contribution to music-based youth education. (more…)

Spring has sprung fully, and it’s getting warm, so now is the time to enjoy the daffodils before they stop blooming.

Next weekend, the Daffodil & Hosta Society of Western Pennsylvania will host its Annual Daffodil Show on the city’s North Side [at Bidwell’s Horticultural Center]. People can either visit the show and enjoy looking at the numerous types of daffodils, or they can enter daffodils from their own gardens and compete in several categories for ribbons.
