West Michigan Center for Arts & Technology (WMCAT)

Located in downtown Grand Rapids, WMCAT opened in the fall of 2005 in a renovated 7,700 square foot facility housing state-of-the-art equipment and an environment that promotes hope, success, and achievement. WMCAT’s mission is to provide opportunities for people of all ages to seek, learn, and grow to make positive social change and economic progress in their lives and community.

Skill- and confidence-building studio arts, such as photography and digital imaging, allow adult instructors to engage in conversation and develop mentoring relationships with youth attending the center. The goal of the youth program is to keep high-risk youth in high school, have them graduate, and then enroll in post-secondary education.

WMCAT has partnered with local business leaders to create a medical coding program for adults. This market-driven adult job training program will provide employment opportunities for those individuals that successfully complete the training.
